I am… warped.

My mind breaks
As I stare at our baby from the future
Hidden in the armor of my enemy
No longer cloaked in shadows

I listen for the Spirit.

He says:

“Did you not know
Have you not heard?”

His voice is compassionate.

“Just as you
Must face your shadow
The fruit of your pain
So too
Must your marriage”

I look to my wife.

To my surprise
She is crying
So hard
Her flames are put out

I put my
Ugly arms
Around her
And proclaim

“Mother…”

“Behold thy son!”
