Today’s Most Important Challenge is…
- Having enough grace
- To hear what people are NOT saying
- Including me
Spirit Approach Memo
Continued from Marching Out
I am… drilling.
It chafes me
To sit under the discipline
Of the renowned but out-of-touch general
The icy father to my fiery wife
I can’t imagine
How this old-fashioned army
Will comprehend
Much less defeat
Our enemy
I am certain
They don’t appreciate
Much less understand
The superpowers
My team suffered so much to gain
I listen for the Spirit.
He says:
“These battles
Are not won by strength
Or wisdom
But praise
And thanksgiving”
I bow down in worship.
Our army
Is surprised by my actions
And makes space for me
Their whole army
Is confused
By this spectacle
And breaks ranks
Out of sheer wonder
Our general
May not understand much
But this one thing he knows:
A cohesive force
Routs a disorganized one
So he yells:
“Attack!”
To be continued
Reflection
I feel…
- Humbled
- Used
- Pursued
- Overwhelmed
Scripture
And Yahweh threw Sisera and his army into confusion before the onslaught of Barak and his men. Sisera and all his chariots and men were overwhelmed. He leaped from his chariot and fled on foot. Barak pursued the other chariots and the army to Harosheth of the Gentiles until Sisera’s whole army was killed by the sword, and only Sisera survived.
