I am… descended into darkness.

I have absorbed
The woundedness
That was threatening the land

Attracting the evil meteor
Deflected by my band’s shields
Punching me into the depths of the earth

I die
And am reborn
As a being of corruption
A slave of evil ways

Nevertheless…

I look to My Father.

His smile is grim
But undismayed

He chides:

“Nothing that lives
Is fully evil
Only corrupted goodness
That may yet be redeemed”

His face hardens.

“But the greater the depth
The harsher the discipline
Necessary
To bring form out of chaos”

A light
Appears in the darkness
A song
Sung by a child

Who approaches
Carrying…

The Staff of Law!

But when their champion died, then the people would relapse into their former idolatry. They would worship other gods, bow down to them, and refuse to give up their evil ways. And each generation behaved worse than the one before it.
