Yahweh Approach Memo

Continued from Undoing

I am… rotten.

The Corruption of this land
Seeps into my shattered heart

Or perhaps was always there
And merely released
By my brokenness

It composts my wooden body
And begins to undermine
The garden forest
I had been sworn to protect

I look to My Father.

I cry out:

“How could you let me
Ruin everything
As I am ruined?”

My Father shouts.

Stars fall from the sky
Forming puddles of liquid metal
That cool into discs
Of white gold

A trumpet sounds.

A band of stoic warriors
Summoned by the spectacle
Rush up
And pick up the discs

Holding them as shields
Over my decaying corpse

Their facings shining
With childlike wonder
At the wild magic
They now wield

My Father laughs.

He answers me:

“It was necessary for you
To share this land’s corruption
So that it
May share in your redemption”

Thunder splits the air.

We all look up
And stare in horror as…

A stone meteor approaches!

Nevertheless, Yahweh raised up deliverers from among them who rescued them from the marauding bands.
Rather than listen to their deliverers, they prostituted themselves to other gods and bowed down to worship them.
This new generation quickly turned from the good path and refused to be like their ancestors who actually listened to Yahweh’s commands.‬‬
