Continued from Unallied.

I am… draining.

At first
I think the crown of thorns
Has punctured an artery

Then I realize
My heart is fine
My blood still circulating
Within me

It is my mind
That is leaking out
Through the holes in my skull

I look to My Father.

He smiles:

“You must lose
Faith in your intellect

“The king
Must learn how to rule
Using only His heart”

I look to the king.

As understanding fades
My heart
Is in my eyes

And all he sees is love

His eyes are opened.

He rushes over
Tosses away his feathery crown
Grabs the crown of thorns from me
And yells:

“Me first!”
