Continued from Fight

I am… humbling myself.

I kneel before the tiny king
Whose people I have panicked
By reading a scroll I don’t understand

He climbs up
To whisper in my ear:

“You were right!”

I sit up in amazement.

He sighs
Looks around
(To ensure no one can overhear)
And beckons me closer:

“Everything you said
About our fear
Hypocrisy
And self-deception
Was absolutely true”

I blink.

I had no idea
The scroll was so harsh
And so accurate
But deep in my bones
I feel the truth of his words

Then
To my amazement…

The king kneels.

“Please”

He says

“Save my people”

I look to My Father.

“Father
Who am I
To advise kings?

“I am not a prophet
Nor the son of a prophet
To declare the word of the Lord

“Please
Send someone else”

My Father laughs.

“I have made you to stand
On the shoulders of giants
But you are still a grasshopper
In your own eyes”

He points to my chest.

My eyes are opened
I see through the new skin
And old bones
At the enormous heart
He has placed within me

My Father winks.

“Listen to the heart I gave you
And you will always know.
The right words to say…”
