Continued from Plagued

I am… rebuked.

My tribesmen
See me falling down in worship
Between my “rogue” altar and Jesus
And jump to conclusions:

“See
How weak you become
When you go off
To seek God on your own”

I look to Jesus.

He whispers:

“They are not wrong
But their real fear
Is how weak they are
Without you”

He breathes on me:

“Receive the Holy Spirit!”

Immediately
All my fear
Anger
Self-pity
Resentment

Is washed away
As I realize
How securely I am loved

I am filled with compassion
For those
Who do not realize…

God is not angry with them!

He is only angry
At the fear
That causes us
To separate ourselves
From Him
And each other

And with that insight
I suddenly realize…

What I must sacrifice!
