Hope, like forgiveness, can only happen in darkness

Immanuel Approach Memo
Continued from Altered
I am… troubled.
The people attacking me
(Verbally, at least for now)
Do not actually see me
They only see
Their past sins
And trauma
And project them onto me
They ignore
Any evidence
That contradicts
Their self-righteous rage
I start to react
With rage of my own
Against their hypocrisy
But then I take a Moment
Box-breathe for six seconds
And then…
I look for Jesus.
I see Him
Kneeling between us
His nail-scarred hands
Stretched wide
In prayer
I realize
We are both parts
Of His body
The left and right hands
That must work together
To fulfill His greater purpose
The left and right hands
That must work together
To fulfill His greater purpose
I recognize
Christ is using them
To highlight my own past trauma
So I can be healed
And see Jesus more clearly
So they can too.
I leave the altar
Of everything God did in my past
Step closer to Jesus…
And fall down in worship.
To be continued
Reflection
I feel…
- Convicted
- Humbled
- Refocused
- Abundant
- Curious
Scripture
“Haven’t we had enough trouble from the terrible sin we committed at Peor?
Joshua 22:17 TPT
There a plague came upon us even though we belong to Yahweh.
To this day, our conscience is stained and we still suffer from our atrocious deeds.”
