What once
Was a joyful crowd
Becomes an angry mob
Thirsting for revenge

The lords of the city
Are all too eager
To have someone else to blame
To hide their own shame

We are sentenced to die.

One by one
We are stabbed through the heart
Until we are all
Dead

Then a miracle occurs.

From our broken bodies
Winged creature emerge

Too small to see
Except
For the light they emit

The crowd gapes.

They watch
In awe and wonder
