In Cinderella’s house

That used to be her home
Until her wicked stepmother took over
And made it her prison

I try to be her friend
She makes clothes for me
But still
She cries herself to sleep
Every night

Then a miracle occurs.

I meet
Her fairy godmother

She grants me
The gift of speech

I ask her:

“What can I say?”

She says:

“While she sleeps
Whisper in her ear…”

“Someday my prince will come!”
