The other dogs
In the alley
Are not impressed

They continue forward
Snarling

Angry at me
For defiling their space
With holiness

Then a miracle occurs.

The purebred female
Whom I thought abandoned me
Steps forward
Wearing the golden collar
Of the Rottweiler

She does not speak
But lies down
And rolls over
Exposing her belly

My enemies are stunned.

Some sit down
Others lie down
A few even roll over

I stare
At her
At them
In shock

I am speechless.

Then I hear:

“Good boy!
Well done
Faithful servant”

And I realize…

The Rottweiler has returned!
