Today’s Most Important Challenge is…

  • Showing rather than telling
  • How to be healed
  • By yielding my traumatized self
  • To the cross

Immanuel Approach Memo

Continued from Defenseless

I am… yielding.

The sympathetic stoning
From my renamed parts
Has tenderized my heart

The enemy knife
Cuts right through me
Shattering their altar
Horrifying their priestess

The blood of Christ in me
Flows freely

Purifying
What had been desecrated
By idolatry

I look for Jesus.

He is in
My broken body
I am in
His forgiving blood

Together
We ruin
The unholy foundations
Of fear / anger / shame / trauma
That built this city
And made it His enemy

The city collapses.

As do my lungs

But as I exhale
My final breath

A miracle occurs!

To be continued

Reflection

I feel…

  • Sacrificed
  • Victorious
  • Unconquerable
  • Immortal
  • Ruinous
  • Triumphant
  • Dead

Scripture

So Joshua burned the town of Ai, and it became a permanent mound of ruins, desolate to this very day.
Joshua impaled the king of Ai on a sharpened pole and left him there until evening. At sunset the Israelites took down the body, as Joshua commanded, and threw it in front of the town gate. They piled a great heap of stones over him that can still be seen today.
Then Joshua built an altar to the Lord, the God of Israel, on Mount Ebal.‭‭
