Continued from Unopposed

I am… mystified.

I obeyed the command of Jesus
To turn and look at Him

But all I see
Is a black, man-shaped void
In the heart of the underworld
I have fallen into

I cry out for the Spirit.

He says:

“Satan appears
As an angel of light
If you would know Christ
You must step into
The heart of the darkness”

This feels wrong.

Every cell of my body
Cries out
Against stepping into
That ultimate negation

I am trembling
With weakness and fear

I fall to my knees.

Then I realize
That’s what I should have done
All along

Then I realize
That’s what I should have done
All along

Humble myself
To pray
To worship
To adore
To confess and repent

So I do.

And as I do
Even the darkness
Feels like light
Compared to the darkness within me
As I catch a glimpse
Of the glory of God
On the other side

Filled with resolve
I leap straight ahead…

And enter the void!
