Spirit Approach Memo

Continued from Beached.

I am… no longer running from my enemies.

I break up my wooden sailboat
And build a bonfire

I take the young lamb
I had been protecting
Who used to eat from my hand
And my table

And lay it on a stone altar
To prepare a feast for my enemies

I listen for the Spirit.

I cry out:

“Is there no other way?”

He says:

“This is as it must be
Do you trust me?”

I slay the lamb.

As the blood
Pours from its side
As the tears
Flood from my eyes

I fall before the lamb.

My enemies
Who had been chasing me
Surround me

Two dozen men
Led by four beasts

I sing a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
And have made us kings and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth.”

Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the fire; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

Then the Spirit said, “Amen!”

And my enemies fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.
