Spirit Approach Memo
Continued from Peace-Meal
I am… washing in the Sea of Anger.
My hands were filthy
From searching through crud
To find more manna
To fill my new mouth
I don’t know
If I am succeeding
For I lack eyes and nose
To give me feedback
I grow frustrated
I cry out:
“Why do You do this to me?
I’ve tried to build my life
On seeking Your face
Serving Your people
Honoring Your words”
I pound sand with my fists
“Yet here I am
Naked poor and blind
Lost and homeless
Hungry and thirsty
Surrounded by brackish water
Not even knowing
How to get clean”
I collapse in grief.
The Sea of Anger
Carries me
The toxic salts
That made it impossible to drink
Make it so buoyant
That it is easy to float
Once I stopped fighting it
Cursing it
Resenting it
The water
Wraps its arms arounds me
And I start
To peacefully drift off
I listen for the Spirit.
He says:
“The true cleansing
Is not the outside of your body
But the inside”
He weeps:
“I had
To frustrate
Your outer holiness
To reveal
Your inner brokeness
So that I
Could reconcile you
To yourself”
He broods
Over my pain
I hear My Father say:
And my eyes are opened!
To be continued

Scripture
“During your fasts, you quarrel and fight with others and strike them with an angry fist. When you fast like that, your voice will not be heard on high. Do you think I’m impressed with that kind of fast? Is it just a day to starve your bodies, make others think you’re humble, and lie down in sackcloth and ashes? Do you call that a fast? Do you think I, Yahweh, will be pleased with that?”
Isaiah 58:4-7 TPT
“This is the kind of fast that I desire: Remove the heavy chains of oppression! Stop exploiting your workers! Set free the crushed and mistreated! Break off every yoke of bondage! Share your food with the hungry! Provide for the homeless and bring them into your home! Clothe the naked! Don’t turn your back on your own flesh and blood!”
