Continued from About Face

I am… guided.

I still have no face
I cannot see
I can barely hear
I don’t know how I speak

But the Spirt
Takes me by the hand
Turns me around three times
And leads me in an unknown direction

I do not ask why

I listen for the Spirit.

He whispers
In the ears I do not have :

“For now
You can only speak
With the language of the heart”

I have no eyes
So I cannot cry
Still…

The Spirit sees my grief

He says:

“This is not a punishment
It is a gift
I have taken away
The human words
Of blame and condemnation”

He touches my face
With a flaming coal
Burning an opening
For a new mouth

The pain
Is unbelievable
But only for a moment

Then He kisses me

His lips
Tear off
Stick to my face

He takes
My pain
I take
His comfort

He says:

“From now on
You will only speak
The words of my mouth
In the language of heaven”

I open my new lips

And speak
A word
I have never heard before!

Faceless Idols
