I am… escalating.

The underground cavern
I have painfully squeezed into
Has a spiral river
Flowing uphill!

I fall into it
And somehow
Am carried uphill
Washed
Cleansed
Warmed
Refreshed
Elevated

I look for Jesus.

He is the Source
Of the river
Blood and water
Flow from His heart

As His blood
Flows down
His living water
Lifts me up

I cry out:

“Lord
Do not send me away
Even to comfort and safety”

“Lord
Do not send me away

I paddle feebly
Against the water:

“How can I go
If You do not go with me?”

I try to climb out
Of the impossible riverbed:

“Far be it
For anything but death
To separate me from you”

Jesus smiles.

He says:

“Death
Will not separate us
It will unite us!”

With a mighty gasp
His heart bursts

The column of water
Accelerates

Smashing me into the ceiling!
