I am…standing in the gap.

My slow turtle voice
Cannot warn the castle
Or my lord
In time

But
My hard turtle body
Can block the castle gate
While their weapons shatter
Against my shell

But for how long?
And then what?

I listen for the Spirit.

His breath blows
My shell glows
Hotter
And hotter
With each blow
I receive

Tongues of flame
Burst forth
Consuming
The banners of the enemy

Heating their armor
Until they cast it off

The vicious horde
Is now naked
Undirected
Weaponless

Yet we
Are still asleep
Leaderless
Vulnerable

Now what?
