Immanuel Approach Memo
Continued from Washed Up
I am… terrified.
I awake from a fever dream
In a stupor
Not knowing who, what or where I am
Slowly
My heart rate
Returns to normal
I look at my hands
My right one says:
“Remember Jesus
Tell them He lives”
I feel a painful urgency
And strange elation
I see a white cloak
Neatly folded
Bedside my bed
I put it on
To cover my nakedness
Immediately
I feel calmer
I go outside
I look for Jesus.
I do not see Him
With my eyes
On this rocky isle
But I feel His spirit
Commanding me to move
I close my eyes
And carefully walk
Where He leads
When I feel water
On my toes…
I open my eyes.
I am in a little hollow
A secret cove
Containing a wooden sailboat
I climb on board
Loose the rope
And sail into the empty ocean
To be continued
Reflection
I feel…
- Covered
- Led
- Dependent
- Secure
- Free
- Focused
Scripture
“And I have put my words in your mouth and hidden you safely in my hand. I stretched out the sky like a canopy and laid the foundations of the earth.
Isaiah 51:16-17, 21-23 NLT
I am the one who says to Israel, ‘You are my people!’” Wake up, wake up, O Jerusalem! You have drunk the cup of the Lord’s fury. You have drunk the cup of terror, tipping out its last drops.
But now listen to this, you afflicted ones who sit in a drunken stupor, though not from drinking wine. This is what the Sovereign Lord, your God and Defender, says: “See, I have taken the terrible cup from your hands. You will drink no more of my fury. Instead, I will hand that cup to your tormentors, those who said, ‘We will trample you into the dust and walk on your backs.’”
