I am… dumbstruck.

I have been following the map
From the body of Jesus
In search of my origins

But when I pause
To look up
I see
The store I destroyed
At the start of my rampage

And the store-owner
I had been avoiding

I look for Jesus.

He is there
Behind the store owner

I have no choice
(At least
If I want
To break the cycle)

I kneel down
In humility
Before Jesus
In the presence
Of mine enemy

I look up.

I see the store owner
Weeping
But not at me

They turned
To see
What made me kneel

They do not see Jesus
Yet

But their ruined shop
Of fragile china
Has become
A resilient fruit stand
In front of a garden
In the middle of the city

Which is what
They really wanted
All along

Is this
All along
What Jesus wanted
From me?

Scripture

The LORD will comfort Israel again and have pity on her ruins. Her desert will blossom like Eden, her barren wilderness like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found there. Songs of thanksgiving will fill the air.
