Today’s Most Important Challenge is…
- Wisely using my time
- To accomplish God’s purpose
- Even if it feels inefficient
Immanuel Approach Memo
Continued from UnDivorced
I am… not a hunter.
I am… we are… rescuers!
This was never intended to be
A hunting party
But a rescue party
Yet our target
The victim
The she-bear who is my wife
Was besieged by wolves
Her desperate shots
To save her cubs
Struck us
Struck Jesus
I got triggered
We grew fearful
Initially
We knew it was unintentional
So we put on orange safety vests
Thinking that would help
Avoid mistakes
We didn’t know
That wolves wore identical vests
So she had learned to shoot
At every sign of self-protection
I look to Jesus.
He is on my hawk-back
In the empty head of a scarecrow
I am worried
How we will get the children
Past the wolves
Even if carried by lions
He just smiles
And shakes His head
Then I realize
We are not here to hunt
Or to fight
Or even to rescue
We are here to witness
By bringing Jesus
Through our vulnerability
We are here to witness
By bringing Jesus
Through our vulnerability
I look to my selves.
I teach the other birds
To circle up high
Out of shotgun range
I teach the lions
To circle the valley
To keep the wolves from escaping
I teach the children
To pick a safe place
Where they watch
With their closest friends
Then…
I lift up Jesus.
I grab Him in my talons
Clinging tightly to Him
I fly high
Higher than I ever have before
Higher that I’ve seen a hawk fly
Til the bear seems a tiny dot
Even to my superior eyesight
And then
I dive to my death!
To be continued
Reflection
I feel…
- Unburdened
- Relieved
- Innocent
- Watched
- Organized
- Connected
- Suicidal
- Powerful
- With Jesus
Scripture
“The Lord says: You are my people and nation! So pay attention to me. My teaching will cause justice to shine like a light for every nation. Those who live across the sea are eagerly waiting for me to rescue them. I am strong and ready; soon I will come to save and to rule all nations.”
Isaiah 51:4-5 CEV
