MIC Check
Today’s Most Important Challenge is…
- Letting go
- Of my self and others
- So Christ can redefine us
Immanuel Approach Memo
Continued from Feeding
I am… mobilizing.
I call all my hawk-selves together
And am surprised to find
Eagles and falcons among them
They consult rapidly in bird speech
Then explain to me their plan
We invite my sheep-turned-lion friends
And throw a wild worship party
Full of joy and celebration
To gather the children
And let them know it is safe
Then my hawk-buddy Decade
Still young with glasses
But now a muscular adolescent
Soars into the sky like a firework
At that signal
The children
Including me
Climb onto the lions
I look for Jesus.
I see Him
In the empty
Bodiless
Head of the scarecrow
I pick Him up
He winks at me
And says:
“Throw me to Decade”
I pass up Jesus.
Decade grabs Him
They whisper quickly
Then shoot off to the north
We can barely see them
But track their progress
By the raptors that follow
In their wake
The lions
Carry us after them
Rivers
Dry up before us
Hills flatten
Trees part
Until….
I see her.
My quarry / adversary
She is a mama bear
In a valley
Defending her cubs
With a shotgun
From wolves
Prowling the hills
In orange safety vests
Around her neck
Is a golden chain
Like a thaali
And I finally realize
What I long suspected:
She Is My Wife!
To be continued
Reflection
I feel…
- Counseled
- Carried
- Conveyed
- Forerun
- Anticipated
- Elijahed
Scripture
“God says: “Can you produce your mother’s divorce papers proving I got rid of her? Can you produce a receipt proving I sold you? Of ,course you can’t. It’s your sins that put you here, your wrongs that got you shipped out.
So why didn’t anyone come when I knocked? Why didn’t anyone answer when I called? Do you think I’ve forgotten how to help? Am I so decrepit that I can’t deliver?
I’m as powerful as ever, and can reverse what I once did: I can dry up the sea with a word, turn river water into desert sand, And leave the fish stinking in the sun, stranded on dry land… Turn all the lights out in the sky and pull down the curtain.”
Isaiah 50:1-3 MSG
