I am… falling.

Headfirst
To my doom

I have given away
The Hope that carried me
To an unredeemed version of myself
Covered head to toe
In safety-vest orange

And now
There is nothing left
To do
To give
To become
To wish for

I look for Jesus.

To my surprise
I again see the scarecrow

He is waiting to receive me
Catch me
Comfort me
Save me

My bird-head crashes
Into his unprotected body

My lightweight skull
Doesn’t break
Itself
Or him

My lightweight skull
Doesn’t break
Itself
Or him

The scarecrow
Gets to his feet
And lifts me up
Launching me
In a new direction

My hawk eyes
Locate the one
I was chasing

I gasp in disbelief.
