I am… dashing madly.

Running towards the spot
Where I heard a shot
And saw Jesus’ vest falling

But when I get there
I find the vest
But no body
No blood

Just a hawk
Sitting on the ground
Staring me in the eye

I look for Jesus.

I cannot see Him…
Or do I?

I stare at the hawk
It stares back at me
Then improbably
Picks up the vest

It flies to the west
About 100 yards
Above a clearing

I hear another shot
The hawk… disappears?
The vest plummets to the ground

I stare in shock.

Well
At least now I know
What we were hunting

I tighten my grip on my rifle
And head to the clearing…
