Today’s Most Important Challenge is…
- Healing my brain
- Of its need to think
- I must be in control of what happens
Immanuel Approach Memo
Continued from Exulting
I am… transported.
A macrophage
Carried deep inside the brain
Way back
To the amygdala
The seat of identity
The circuits of trauma
The hair-trigger reactions
Of fight versus flight
The guardian
Of all the thoughts
I dare not think
I look for Jesus.
He walks into the minefield
Of my buried emotions
As if He owns the place
He plucks
A poisoned apple
Of betrayal
And offers it to me
Saying:
“This is my body
Broken for you”
I convulse
In fear and disgust
I cry out:
“Lord, take this cup from me
It is too bitter
It will kill me”
Jesus looks at me.
With infinite compassion
He speaks:
“It will only kill
The part of you
That is not me”
He smiles
“Trust in the genes
I have placed in your nucleus
Trust in the circumstances
I have engineered
To carry you to this very moment
Since the day you were conceived”
I worship Jesus.
I say:
“Lord
I am Your handmaiden
May it be to me
According to Your word”
I reach out a pseudopod
And ingest the apple
To carry out His command
But instead of digesting it…
It begins to digest me!
To be concluded
Reflection
I feel…
- Consumed
- Honored
- Commanded
- Submissive
- Torn apart
- Established
Scripture
“The gods of Babylon, Bel and Nebo, are bowed down and lowered to the ground. They haul away on ox carts their wobbling idols. They both stoop and bow down, and they are powerless to rescue their own images. There they go—carried off into captivity!
Isaiah 46:1-3 TPT
“Listen to me, O Jacob’s tribes, all the remnant of Israel. You never had to carry me, but I have carried you from birth. I supported you from the moment you left the womb.”
