I am… carried.

Riding behind Jesus
I thought to a battlefield

Instead
We ride to the worst part of the city
Where those who love God
Hide behind locked doors
And barred windows

And those who hate God
Roam the streets
Preying on the unwary
The desperate
And each other

I look to My Father.

He was already there
Waiting for us

He says

“I have made you
Lord of this neighborhood”

He grins

“Welcome to your parish”
