Today’s Most Important Challenge is…

  • Becoming secure enough in Christ
  • To stay vulnerable amidst opposition
  • Until God be glorified

Immanuel Approach Memo

Continued from 7/12 IAM: Sharing

I am… undone.

The work of my hands
Has become
The broken Body of Christ

The thoughts of my head
Were exploded
By the Blood of His forgiveness

Now what?

I look for Jesus.

He is walking
Amidst the ruins
Of my Self

Peacefully
The way His Father
Walked with Adam
At the beginning

Thoughtfully
He picks up certain pieces
And writes His Name upon them

I expect Him
To collect those pieces
And get rid of the rest

But He puts them back
Where they were
Amidst the other fragments

I watch Jesus.

He sits down
With His back
Against an enormous oak tree
I did not notice before

He grins
And whistles

The rain stops
The clouds part
The sun shines

He claps His hands
The ground thunders
As forest creatures
Large, small, and in-between
Emerge from the willows

They grab the broken pieces
Of my thoughts and works
And start to reassemble them

Stones become flesh
Thoughts become concrete
Water becomes blood

I cannot tell
What they are making

Is it a statue
A man
A monster
A golem

Is it… me?

To be continued

Reflection

I feel…

  • A cold mess
  • Ruined
  • Chosen
  • Claimed
  • Haphazard
  • Meticulous
  • Reworked

Scripture

“They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank.
Some will proudly claim, ‘I belong to the Lord.’
Others will say, ‘I am a descendant of Jacob.’
Some will write the Lord’s name on their hands and will take the name of Israel as their own.”
This is what the Lord says—Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies: “I am the First and the Last; there is no other God.”‭‭

Isaiah‬ ‭44‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬
