I am… a mason.

I am building a wall
I don’t know for what

Could be a border
Could be a fortress
Could be a cathedral
I know not

I am dimly aware
Of other masons
Working in the distance
But all I can see clearly
Is the wall I must build

By myself
I select and shape the stones
Prepare and apply the mortar
Place them one at a time
Over and over again

I look for Jesus.

Then I realize
He is on the other side
Of my wall
Of all the walls

We
Are thoughtfully
Meticulously
Cooperatively
Thoroughly
Expertly

Building a prison
To keep Him in

Why?
What are we so afraid of?

Why am I
So afraid
Of letting Jesus loose?
