MIC Check
Today’s Most Important Challenge is…
- Emptying myself
- Of myself
- So I can fill others
- As Jesus fills me
Immanuel Approach Memo
Concluding 7/8 IAM: Satisfied
I am… pierced.
I had thought
Our enemies
Who had drunk with us
Of the living water
That we thought would kill us
Would let go of their fear
Would release Jesus
Would stop being our enemies
But when I ran to Jesus
They reacted
Instinctively
According to their training
And cut me
I look to Jesus.
He is not amused
He is not angry
He is rejoicing
Because when they hurt me
Those wounds
Make me look like Him
Because when they hurt me
Those wounds
Make me look like Him
I fall at His feet
In worship
Knowing
I am unworthy
Even to suffer
In small part
As He has suffered
My enemies
Drop their swords
In amazement
At how much He loves me
I kiss the feet of Jesus
As I once kissed His face
In betrayal
He raises me to my feet
And whispers something in my ear
Known to no one but me
I give Him a hug
And run to the end of the tunnel
I drink greedily
Hungrily
Continually
The water
Flowing out of my wounds
So I never get full
Somehow
I carve a narrow path
To the other side
A land flowing with milk and honey
Where brother does not contend with brother
Nor will they learn war anymore
Where Christ is King
And truth is stronger than lies
I crawl up the opposite bank
Others follow
Having carved their own way
By following mine
I look for Jesus.
He has not arrived yet
He is still with my enemies
Who don’t know they are my friends
He is leading them
By letting them think they own Him
He is leading them
By letting them think they own Him
He will bring them
Safe to shore
In their own time
Maybe I should go back
Maybe I should scout ahead
Maybe I will… later
But for now
I will rest
Finit
Reflection
I feel…
- Exhausted
- Emptied
- Identified with Christ
- Free
Scripture
“I, the Lord, said to Israel: You have become weary of me, but not from worshiping me. You have not honored me by sacrificing sheep or other animals. And I have not burdened you with demands for sacrifices or sweet-smelling incense. You have not brought delicious spices for me or given me the best part of your sacrificed animals. Instead, you burden me down with your terrible sins. But I wipe away your sins because of who I am. And so, I will forget the wrongs you have done.”
Isaiah 43:22-25 CEV
