MIC Check

Today’s Most Important Challenge is…

  • Helping people move forward
  • Amidst unfair obstacles

Yahweh Approach Memo

I am… Chuck Norris.

A Texas Ranger
Patiently listening to people
Who are the victims
Of robbery
Kidnapping
Arson

I am filled
With righteous indignation

I look to My Father.

He gently points out
That all those victims
Are also criminals

And so
Am I

I am torn.

My heart breaks
For those I know
Who are suffering injustice

Especially on my watch

But
How can I ignore
The wrongs they have done
To others I don’t know

And if I let myself
Be overwhelmed
By guilt at my own sin
How can I help anyone else?

I look to Jesus.

He takes my hands
In His nail-scarred

“Your job is not
To enforce the Law”

He leads me to a cross

“Your job is not
To punish the wicked”

He hands me a hammer and nails

“Your job
Is to lift me up
So I can draw all men
The good
The bad
The ugly
To me”

Finit

Reflection

I feel…

  • Arrogant
  • Humbled
  • Crucified
  • Wonder

Scripture

“The Lord always does right, and so he wanted his Law to be greatly praised. But his people were trapped and imprisoned in holes with no one to rescue them. All they owned had been taken, and no one was willing to give it back.
Why won’t his people ever learn to listen? Israel sinned and refused to obey the Lord or follow his instructions. So the Lord let us be robbed of everything we owned. He was furious with us and punished our nation with the fires of war.
Still we paid no attention. We didn’t even care when we were surrounded and scorched by flames.”‭‭

Isaiah‬ ‭42‬:‭21‬-‭25‬ ‭CEV‬‬
