I am… humiliated.

I spit sand from my mouth
As I kneel on a beach
Where a bully has just knocked me down

I look to My Father.

He is sad
But not for the reason I expect

Because I was the one
Who tried to steal the bully’s girl
Not because I loved her
But because I hated him

Not because I loved her
But because I hated him

I taste sand
Like chewing on glass

I look for Jesus.

He offers me His hand
And pulls me up
Then steps back
So I can face my bully

I say

“I am sorry
I was being rude
To you
And to her”

I look at them both

“I did not know
My own heart
Because of my own
Insecurities”

I look at My Father.

Then back at them

“I was jealous of you
Because you seemed to know
What you wanted
And had found it
So I assumed
I wanted the same thing”

I look to Jesus.

I take a deep breath

“But now I realize
The love I wanted
Was right in front of me
All along”

I look back at them

“I hope
You can forgive me”

They stare at me in shock
Speechless
As I walk away with Jesus
