Immanuel Approach Memo

Continued from 6/7 IAM: Subtle

I am… ridiculous.

Jesus and I
Burst through the door
Of what I thought was the enemy barracks
In my colorful running gear

Only to discover
It is a hospital
For orphans

They laugh
Thinking we are clowns

I look to Jesus.

He is pulling balls out of the air
And juggling them
The children cheer

He throws them to me
Amazingly
I can handle one
Two
Three

Then I get overwhelmed
And all the balls fall down

The children laugh
With me
Not at me

I laugh too
Perhaps in relief
That there is nothing
To run away from

I wonder
If that was why
Jesus brought me here
To entertain the orphans
As comic relief

Then I see
An empty bed

When I look closer
I see a medical chart
With my name on it

Only then
Do I realize
Remember
That I am not just an orphan

I am a patient!

To be continued

Reflection

I feel…

  • Silly
  • Amused
  • Sick
  • Humble
  • At Home

Scripture

“He would never crush a broken heart nor disregard the weak and vulnerable. He will make sure justice comes to those who are wronged.”‭‭
