I am… torn.

On the one hand
I see everyone
And everything
With the heart of Jesus
Washed in His blood
And my tears

On the other
I see it all
With my human eyes
Their self-righteous arrogance
Self-deluding folly
Self-reliant defiance

I cannot
Reconcile
His heart
And my head

I cannot
Reconcile
His heart
And my head

I look for Jesus.

I cannot see Him
At first
Because He is too enormous

His hands
Are large enough to
Swallow an island
One does

The other
Captures the wispy strands
That are all that remain
Of the cloud I became

He claps his hands.

I am brought into contact
With my greatest fears
With the dark mirror
Of precisely those sins
Where I lack the grace
To trust Jesus
And the power of His cross

And I realize
That is why
They betrayed Jesus
Then me

They too
Hit the place
Of bloodlessness
And saw no way out
But to deny
Inconvenient truths
(And me)

So rather
Than deny
Or attack
Or flee
Their darkness

I must
Embrace it
As my own

I open my eyes
(All that is left of me)
And will myself
Into the the mountain
The crater
The trench
Of my deepest pain
