I am… abandoned.

The deep oceans of my heart
Carried Christ to the surface
Leaving me alone underground

My God, my God
Why have you forsaken me?

I look for Jesus.

I see nothing
But the Spirit whispers

“Look with the eyes of your heart”

I close my eyes of my head
When I do

I see Jesus everywhere.

He is a thousand million points of light
Covering my heart
In an intricate dance

Shepherding my alienated selves
Who had darkened my heart
Corralling some
Redeeming others

The living water
That carried Him away from me
Transformed
The ruined temple
Into a river of life
Feeding a tree
Whose leaves bring healing to the nations

When I open my eyes…

I still see nothing.

I cry out to the darkness

“If God is everywhere
Why do I feel so alone?”

And the darkness
Answers!
