Today’s Most Important Challenge is…
- Lifting up Christ
- On His cross (and mine)
- To draw all people
- To Him
Immanuel Approach Memo
Continued from 5/20 IAM: Unequal
I am… diving.
Jesus had been flying me
To where my alienated selves
Had destroyed a stronghold
On my darkened heart
Because it was not built on Him
Because it was built on sand
And lies
And cruelty and corruption
Even though it was beautiful
And necessary
And for Him
We plunge through
The masses of soldiers
Pouring in
To exploit the breakthrough
We plunge through
The exposed foundations
Of the destroyed citadel
We plunge through
The surface beauty
Of my heart
Into the deep darkness
I had forgotten existed
I can’t bear to see it
I look to Jesus.
His face is grim
But His eyes are alive
With a fierce joy
We plunge through the darkness
Into an underground cavern
Filled with water
A lake
An ocean
We land
I taste the water
Fresh, not salty
With no sun to evaporate it
He tells me to wait on the shore
While He walks out on the water
He calls out in a loud voice
“Father, into thy hands
I commend my spirit”
The water
Lifts Him up
In a mighty column
Punching through the darkness
Rising to the surface
Emptying the cavern
Leaving me alone
Bereft
Stranded
To be continued
Reflection
I feel…
- Shaken
- Confused
- Left behind
- Awe
Scripture
Lift up your eyes to the sky and see for yourself. Who do you think created the cosmos? He lit every shining star and formed every glowing galaxy, and stationed them all where they belong.
Isaiah 40:26a TPT
