I am… a newsboy .

“Extra! Extra!
Read all about it!
World coming to an end!”

I don’t write the news
I don’t even approve it
I just sell
Whatever they give me

But
Secretly
I rejoice in bad news
Because I profit from it

I look for Jesus.

He is coming towards me
Carrying a stack of papers
All I can see is the words

“Good News”

Written above the fold

I look at Jesus.

I splutter

“I can’t sell that
It isn’t even true”

He smiles

“You don’t sell this
You give it away”

I am indignant

“How is that
Good News for me?”

He grins

“It will be true
As you say it is”

He sets down the papers
Hands me a small cloth pouch
And walks away
