  • Learning how to redeem unruly emotions
  • Rather than ignore or placate them

Yahweh Approach Memo

Continued from 4/30 YAM: Delver

I am… at a crossroads.

I have followed the footsteps of Jesus
On a well-lit Highway through Hell
But now I must choose
Whether to stay on the Highway
Or follow the footsteps
Down a dark side-tunnel

Demons laugh at my discomfort
Could they somehow have rigged
Or disguised
The footsteps?

No
Nothing evil
Can enter God’s Highway

And the wide road
Always ends in destruction

But just to be safe…

I look to My Father.

I cannot see Him
But I hear Him say

“You will never go wrong
Trying to follow
The footsteps of Jesus
Even if
They go to Hell”

I suddenly realize
This story is not
About finding or rescuing
My Beloved
(Though I’m confident
That will eventually happen
)

It is about finding Christ
In the depths of Primal Reality
As my Beloved

And finding myself
As His Beloved

Which is harder
Much, much, harder
Than seeing God in the desert
Or even
Seeing My Father in the jungle

But
It is the only way
I can never be alone

I choose the way of Jesus.

I choose

To leave the safety
Of religious tradition
Of self-righteous morality
Of self-serving rationality

To let go the pursuit
Of romance
Connection
Human intimacy
Status and belonging

I step off the Highway
I enter the Portal

But rather than attack
My demons flee

I look for Jesus.

He is
The light in the darkness

He is
Waiting for me
With a song on His lips
And a crown of thorns in His hands

I kneel
He crowns me with joy
And says

“All has been made ready
Come on
We have work to do”

I stand up
On my own two feet
And follow
In the footsteps
Of My Beloved

End of Part I

Reflection

I feel…

  • Relieved
  • Grateful
  • Foolish
  • Humbled
  • Happy
  • Excited
  • Wonder

Scripture

“No lion will be there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, and those the Lord has rescued will return.
They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”‭‭

Isaiah‬ ‭35‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬
