I am… reading by moonlight.

In the desert
On top of a mesa
Which might be an ivory tower

Alone
Except for the wild animals
Who are also alone

I look to My Father.

He says

“It is not good
For males
To be alone”

He whistles
A mighty wind blows

Their brides appear
The animals dance
Or sing
Or strut
According to its kind

They go off
To fulfill their purpose

But not me

I look at My Father.

Questions
And tears
Fill my eyes

He smiles

“Come
I have saved
The best for last”
