I am… confounded.

The River of Christ
Is sweeping through the land
Reviving
Healing
Nourishing
Saving

But…
It is being co-opted
Not by the wicked
By fools

They mean well
They think they are doing God’s work
They are serving the only Jesus they know
The one they grew up with
The one their father figures modeled

Consumerism
Narcissism
Materialism
Traditionalism
Intellectualism
Emotionalism
Egoism

I look for Jesus.

For a moment
I panic

I can’t see Him
For all the corruption
In His Body

Then I look closer.

And I see Him
Amidst the corruption
Of His Body

For He did not come
To save the righteous
But sinners

And He loves to dwell
With Us
In our brokenness

Then I look inside.

And I realize
That is exactly
How He dwells with me

And if I
Learn to see Jesus
At Work
At Rest
In my corruption

Then I will see Jesus
In Them
