Immanuel Approach Memo
I am… an uncrowned king
Leading my people through a desert
To the promised land
But…
We have no water
There is a spring
High up on a mountain
(Or so we’ve been told)
But it is clogged
By an enormous rock
Everyone expects me
Needs me
Demands me
To strike it with my sword
(Or so I imagine)
Instead…
I look for Jesus.
He is the rock
I could strike Him
He is the spring
Blood and water would flow
Jesus looks at me.
He would forgive me
But it would be wrong
Yet what choice do I have?
The same one
I do
Every day
Sacrifice Jesus
Or sacrifice my Self
I sigh.
I climb onto the rock
Lay down on my back
And stab my Self through the heart
