Immanuel Approach Memo

Continued from 4/7 IAM: Dance-Fighting

I am… a whirlwind

Dancing my life away
For Jesus
While all my enemies
Attack

The dance ends.

I look around

Not one of my foes
Is still standing

All I hear
Are sobbing and curses

I look for Jesus.

He is walking among them
Healing
Comforting

I feel slightly ashamed
For having feared them
Rather than pitied

I walk to Jesus.

He is praying with two men
From different tribes
Who got distracted
While attacking me
And stabbed each other

One is dying
The other wracked with guilt

I expect Him to heal one
And forgive the other
But instead…

Jesus looks to me

His eyes say:
Tend my lambs

And I realize
What I must do

To be continued.

Reflection

I feel…

  • Abashed
  • Overly powerful
  • Pity
  • Sorrow

Scripture

“What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.
In his wisdom, the Lord will send great disaster; he will not change his mind. He will rise against the wicked and against their helpers. For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God! Their horses are puny flesh, not mighty spirits!
When the Lord raises his fist against them, those who help will stumble, and those being helped will fall. They will all fall down and die together.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭31‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬
