Immanuel Approach Memo
Continued from 2/26 IAM: Well-Served
I am… wrong.
I thought the capped well in the heart of the earth contained raging fire and/or living water
It was blood
His blood
Yes, it burns
Yes, it cleanses
But more than that
It permeates every cell of my being
Even as it fills the tunnels and chasms that led me here
I am swept away by the flood
Losing all sense of time or place
Yet perfectly at peace
Knowing this is my true home
I look for Jesus.
And realize He is all around me
I am inside Him
Part of His body
A blood cell
I am sucked into His heart
Shot into His lungs
Filled to bursting with His Spirit
Pulled back to His heart
Then sent out
I emerge from the well
Surrounded by those who had let me down
I look the same
Physically
But I am transformed
In my heart
I look at them with the eyes of Christ
I hear the pain behind their harsh words
I smell the pheromones of their latent desire for Jesus
I taste the metallic tang of His iron in my mouth
I feel the power dripping off of me
I stand in the heart of darkness
With the darkest of hearts
And let their evil osmotically pull
The grace of God from me
Absorbing their sins
Filling them with Hope
Until I am empty
And dive into the overflowing well
To begin the cycle all over again
But this time
Others join me

Scripture
Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.’
Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.’
They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.
Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.
Ezekiel 11:16-20 NIV
