I am… at the center of the earth
At least metaphorically

I see a well
Capped
To contain the raging fire within
That is somehow also living water

I look for Jesus.

He is on the other side

He looks at me
And smiles

“Will you open the gate?”

I fall to my knees

In my mind’s eye
I see volcanos
Ash mounts
Lava floods

Death
Destruction
Civilizational collapse

“Lord, is there no other way?”

He reaches across the barrier
He touches my forehead
He says: “Peace. Be still”

I look AT Jesus.

I am at peace

I don’t know what the future holds
I don’t know what I am doing
But I know Jesus

I grab the lever

And I uncap the well

To be concluded

Reflection

I feel…

• Terrified
• Responsible
• Hungry
• Hopeful
• Close
• Peace that passes understanding
• That I have found my place
