I am… being lowered down a well

I presume I am being sent to look for something
But I have forgotten what

I know it’s important
Maybe even vital
Or else all these people wouldn’t be helping

Either they really trust me
Or I am the most expendable

I look for Jesus.

He is waiting at the bottom of the well

It has gone dry

When I see Him, I signal them to lower me all the way down

I hit rock-bottom
Gently
But profoundly

He removes the ropes that bind me to the surface
Which is easy, because they’ve gone slack

It is not dark, because he glows

I switch off my cap light
It is not needed in His presence
And just distracts me

I follow Him down into a tunnel…
