I am… a bride waiting for her groom.

I am in the church bridal chamber
Staring at a mirror
While the maids arrange my dress

I have not seen my Lord all day
As is the custom
But everything that has happened
Is to prepare me
To be seen by Him
At the right time

The music starts
My heart is fluttering
They release me from the room
I peek through the door

I look for Jesus.

He is there
Exactly where He is supposed to be
Standing at the altar

Except…
He isn’t looking at me
Or for me

My heart breaks

He is looking at the altar
His lips are moving
He turns and winks

He was praying for me
He knew where I was
He knows what I need most
