MIC Check
- Today’s Most Important Challenge is…
- Walking in the fear of the Lord
- In a way that sets others free
- From lesser fears
Immanuel Approach Memo
I am in a thick jungle
Wearing khaki and a pith helmet
Carrying a machete to slash through vines
While being swarmed with tsetse flies
It is hot
Sticky
Miserable
Exhausting
Dangerous
Annoying
I can’t see more than a couple feet in front of me
It seems pointless
But I look for Jesus
I hear a whistle above me
I look straight up
Jesus comes floating down
The jungle does not go away
But it humbles itself before Him
Vines uncurl
Plants straighten
Bugs fly in formation
Ahead of me
The jungle wasn’t fighting me
They were fighting each other
Merely to survive
I was just in the way
Now that Jesus has come
They can relax
We can relax
And follow
Reflection
I feel…
- Stupid for not looking up
- Awe at the power of God
- Reminded to seek Him first, and His Kingdom
- Hopeful for His coming
- Wonder at what that might look like
Scripture
- Psalm 111:10: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts gain rich understanding. His praise endures forever!
- Psalm 86:11: Teach me Your way, O LORD, that I may walk in Your truth. Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name.
