MIC Check
- Today’s Most Important Challenge is …
- Keeping silent enough
- To hold the tension long enough
- For God to speak
Immanuel Approach Memo
I am …
In a dark room
I strain my ears to listen
Nothing
Well, I can hear my own heartbeat
I am tempted to clap my hands
Just to reassure myself I’m not deaf
And perhaps use the echo to estimate the room size
But maybe the silence is intentional
Even a gift
But maybe the silence is intentional
Even a gift
I look for Jesus.
Though I don’t expect to see Him
Either He would glow
And the room would not be dark
Or the room is too dark to see Him
But I am surprised
By the glint of His eyes
I see no light
But He does
And by that
I can see Him
Reflection
I feel…
- The glorious weight of silence
- Abashed at my unbelief
- Hungry to see Him in the darkness
- Holy Dread at what this portends
Scripture
“When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? Consult God’s instruction and the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.”
Isaiah 8:19-20 NIV
