12/17 Epic Poem: Three-Saken, Five-Saken

Matthew 27:46: About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

We all start at Sakenness One
Where following God is pure fun
But once we’re at Sakenness Two
We find out there’s much more to do

This turns into pure agony
When we reach Sakenness Three
And I learn God is not me
Kneeling in Gethsemane

This opens the door
To Sakenness Four

I no longer see
My foe from S-3
And despite my plea
He cannot see me

Yet this He must do
So He can unscrew
The Law from S-2
That split me from you

For Sakenness Five
Is truly alive
And even more fun
Than Sakenness One!

For that is the trace
That leads to the place
Of winning God’s grace
By losing His face

Today I will forsake
My own false self
With God
