10/26 Epic Poem: Daily Exorcise Program

Today I will burn ego to buy learning.

If we want to win
The race we’ve been running
We must find a way
Around Satan’s cunning

That sneaky old snake
The Father of Lies
Has hooks in our flesh
We don’t recognize

The germ of each thought
Our ego contains
Includes a half-lie
He stuck in our brains

When triggered or scared
He calls in his marker
And what we thought light
Just makes the world darker

If we would escape
Such self-sabotage
We must first detect
His soul-camouflage

The chief indication
I’m losing that fight
Is when my soul screams
“They’re wrong and I’m right”

That pain in itself
Is useful and true
To reveal the boundary
Between me and you

But binary thinking
Has a deep flaw
For evil hides freely
Inside any Law

The self-righteousness
That your offense brings
Is Satan’s chief weapon
‘Gainst paupers or kings

The only way out
Of such a crisis
Is losing my Self
Through histolysis

The metrics I measure
The badges I’ve earned
Are placed on an altar
And with that Self burned

To purge me from evil
And open The Way
As I bear my cross
And die every day

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?
Run in such a way as to get the prize.
Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.
They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.
No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭24‬-‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬
