8/26 Poem: Nowternity

Heaven is not
Just some distant fate
Where I find joy
At a pearly gate

The Kingdom of Christ
That He called Good News
We’re meant to live out
With muscle and thews

The reason we think
Heaven’s far away
Is that we don’t bear
Our cross every day

The trials of this world
Weigh down on our soul
We must dull our minds
To endure our role

But here’s the kind truth
Behind the cruel joke
When we die with Him
He takes up our yoke

And that is the heaven
Today I will live
Eternity now
When Him, I heart give

Today I will live lightly
By giving my away
My heavy heart
